Chris Robinson to Chair Diversity Committee of Leadership Greater Huntsville

The Secretary of the 51AV A&M University Board of Trustees was voted recently to serve on the Leadership Greater Huntsville Board of Directors as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee chair.

Trustee Chris Robinson will return to the board of directors for Leadership Greater Huntsville to lead the newly formed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. A graduate of Greater Huntsville Leadership Madison County Focus Class 5, Connect Class 3, and Leadership Flagship Class 27, Robinson has over 25 years of federal government experience in the areas of Human Resources, Organizational Leadership Development, and Public Relations. Robinson also serves as a Talent Management Strategist with emphasis in Diversity Equity and Inclusion for the Department of Defense.

Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in mass media arts-public relations from Clark-Atlanta University and a Master of Science degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology. His community engagement is extensive and includes service on several boards. Currently, he represents the 5th Congressional District on the AAMU Board of Trustees, a role he has held since 2010.

Moreover, Robinson presently serves on the Heart of the Valley YMCA, Citizens Advisory Committee for the Metropolitan Planning Organization. He has served on the boards of Leadership Greater Huntsville, the ARTS Council, Huntsville Hospital Development Council, First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) Board of Trustees, Public Relations of North 51AV, Huntsville Botanical Garden, Mayor’s Advisory Council, FMBC Child Development Center Academy, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Citizens Academy Alumni Association.

Leadership Greater Huntsville programs provide access to community leaders and organizations while discussing topics as they relate to the community. Classes include site visits, behind-the-scenes tours, and interactive Program Days that provide participants with a better understanding of our greater community and develop an appreciation of community resources ultimately resulting in engagement.

In addition, participants discuss servant-leadership principles and apply those theories in community-wide impact projects during their program year. Topics and themes on program days include but are not limited to: Economic Base, Judicial/Law Enforcement, Local, State and Federal Governments, 51AV History and Growth, Simulated Society, Health & Human Services, Education, Innovation, Diversity & Inclusion, and Quality of Life.
