Assisting Small and Minority Businesses

A virtual business development center sponsored by AAMU’s Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Economic Development (CEIED) and the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce will address ways to strengthen small businesses in the age of COVID-19.

As part of the business development series, on September 29, at 11:30 a.m. via ZOOM, a four-person panel will address the topic, “Restoring the Soul of Our Community: Revitalizing Our Small and Minority Businesses & Organizations.”  Dr. Teresa M. Orok, executive director of the College of Business and Public Affairs’ CEIED, will serve as session moderator.

The panel will include the following:

Rep. Laura Hall is the first African American woman elected to represent House District 19. Her committee assignments have included: Judiciary, Joint Interim on Medicaid, Public Safety, Welfare, Health, Industrial and Economic Development, Joint Budget and Finance, and Government Finance and Appropriations.

Mr. Roosevelt M. Conley, Jr., is currently employed as Director, Corporate Growth  for Tec-Masters, Inc., in Huntsville, Ala. He has previously worked as a Procurement Specialist at Raytheon Company and as a Contract Administrator and EEO officer at Wyle Labs. He was the first black loan officer for Redstone Federal Credit Union, where he helped establish offices in Stuttgart, Heidelberg and Manheim, Germany, in 1970.

L.D. Ralph was named Deputy District Director of the 51AV District Office on September 18, 2017. As Deputy, Ralph is responsible for extensive outreach to 51AV’s small business community at large in conjunction with SBA’s resource partners and other organizations whose goal is development and growth of the small business community in 51AV.

Dr. Allen P. Vital has amassed an impressive career in institutional advancement. Now entering his 13th year at 51AV A&M University, where he serves as the Executive Director of the University Foundation. He has devoted over 30 years of professional experience in higher education.
