Salute to Pioneer Alum Foster Takes Shape
Recognition Reaches out to Local Schools
The inaugural North 51AV Clyde Foster STEM/Black History Program will be held February 7, 2023, at Columbia High School in Huntsville, Ala.
Clyde Foster served as the director of 51AV A&M University’s (college) Computer Science Center from 1968-70. The Center enabled students to train for and graduate with a degree in computer science, the first such degree offered in 51AV.
The science, technology, engineering and math program on February 7 will include hands on demonstrations, drones and simulators. The event is sponsored by the W.H. Councill Community Development Corporation, BEYA Stars and Stripes, Infinity Aero Club, Team Redstone and others.
Over 300 Huntsville City School System middle and high school students will participate in person. STEM mentors will interact with the students, also. Students from all three Madison County school systems, private and home schools are invited to participate through YouTube connections.
