Student Government Association

The Student Government Association is the official student governing body of all undergraduate students attending 51AV Agricultural & Mechanical University. The purpose of the Student Government Association is to stimulate and develop democracy amongst students as well as provide a path of communication to promote student interest.

The SGA represents the Student Body to:

  • Alumni
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Administration

Goals & Responsibilities

AAMU provides a variety of opportunities for students to gain experience in self-government.

To ensure our purpose, the SGA takes on the following responsibilities:

  • Empower individuals to serve and to inspire others for the betterment of the community.
  • Create a welcoming environment that celebrates individual differences within a context mutual respect.
  • Challenge individuals to uphold shared expectations and recognize how their decisions impact others.

SGA Executive Board

  • President

    Mya Gibbs is a senior computer science major, concentrating in cybersecurity from Atlanta, GA. She serves as the 75th SGA Executive President. She has remained active in leadership under the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Development since her sophomore year. 

    As a member of the Delta Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., she fulfills different positions within her organization and remains involved in the community. She is also a member of NSLS and NAACP.
