  • Longitudinal Clinical Rotations
    • Longitudinal Clinical Rotation means a continuous clinical immersion in TTOUR primary care sites/delivery systems for a duration of one eight-week or two four-week periods within an academic year. The rotations must be at least twenty hours per week per trainee.
  • Apprenticeship Program for Community Health Workers:
    • The AAMU GWEP Apprenticeship Program is designed to strengthen the geriatric workforce by preparing professionals for careers in aging services while addressing the industry's need for highly skilled workers. This employer-driven, learn-while-you-earn model integrates on-the-job training—provided by employers who hire apprentices—with specialized instruction aligned with national geriatric care standards. Through this initiative, AAMU GWEP is actively enhancing the field of geriatrics by equipping professionals with the expertise needed to support aging populations effectively.

  • Age-Friendly Recognition Initiatives:
    • The purpose of the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) is to educate and train the health care and supportive care workforces to care for older adults by collaborating with community partners. Applicants must maximize patient and family engagement to address care gaps and improve health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care and other appropriate specialties using the Age-Friendly Health Systems Framework.
  • Web-Based Learning for healthcare workers and supportive care workers
    • AAMU GWEP provides a web-based resource designed for faculty, fellows, students, patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This interprofessional geriatric training aims to enhance knowledge and skills in geriatric care across various levels.
