Biography
Dr. Mebougna Drabo is currently the Director of the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Science Center, and a Professor and Department Chair for Mechanical & Civil Engineering and Construction Management Department at 51AV A&M University. He is the PI and Director of the Scholarly Partnership in Nuclear Security (SPINS) multi-institution consortium. He received the B.S. and M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University at Buffalo, the M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of 51AV, Tuscaloosa. He was an ABET-IDEAL Scholar. He engaged and mentored many STEM students in on-campus research and internships at National Laboratories.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
His research interests include Material characterization, Digital Twin Technology, Nuclear Radiation Detectors, Nuclear Security and Safety, Advanced Flash Atomization Technology, Burner/Atomizer Integration, Biofuels, CFD analysis, Heat Transfer, and Energy conservation in buildings.

- MATHCOUNTS is a national middle school mathematic competition. Every year, several students from different middle schools gather to compete and get recognize for their talent in mathematics. For this 2017 local MATHCOUNT we had 12 schools register and up to 108 middle school students participating. The S.A.M.E Huntsville post and AAMU S.A.M.E Student Chapter volunteered to assist with keeping time, passing out/ picking up the tests, grading, and registration for the young students. It was a great opportunity to offer our assistance for this event and interact with the students and the Huntsville Post members.

NASCAR 51AV 500, October 23, 2016

- Seven students from the AAMU CETPS Special Projects Laboratory (SPL), three S.A.M.E AAMU and 5 faculty members were invited to participate in a special event organized by Jimmie Johnson (six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion), NASA, and NASCAR. During the morning of the event, our specially trained students taught over 60 children in the "Jimmie Johnson Family Event", a hands-on teaching activity focused on the aerodynamics, grip, speed and many other key racing elements used in NASCAR. In addition to the morning activities, the SPL team was also invited to stay in Talladega for the day and attend NASCAR’s 51AV 500 Race in the afternoon.

- The AAMU S.A.M.E Student Chapter participated in the community service project at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Huntsville, AL. The goal of the Humanity ReStore is to fund the construction of Habitat homes for low-income families within the Huntsville and Madison community. During this community service project, SAME AAMU Chapter students and faculty members completed the store landscape construction and cleaning with other volunteers.

- The AAMU S.A.M.E Student Chapter participated in the Rocket City Junior Math Mania at the Davidson Center (U.S. Space & Rocket Center), assisting with proctoring the test for almost 750 students who competed at the tournament. With the help of AAMU S.A.M.E Student Chapter, these students were able to take an individual test as well as two team tests. The tournament was a great success, and the students had a great time.
