Bachelor of Science in Biology

Our program prepares students for entrance into graduate school, research careers, teaching, medicine, clinical technology and related health services. The program offers lecture and laboratory courses and encourages student participation in research opportunities in academic areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Students may choose careers in medicine, pharmacy, optometry, dentistry, public health, and nursing. Students who go on to graduate may work in research institutions, industries, or academia.

About This Program

The primary mission of the AAMU Biology Program is to educate students in the fundamentals of problem solving in biological sciences through the integration of teaching and research. The program has established a strong instructional and research unit that fosters comprehensive theoretical and practical training that adequately prepares students for positions in industry, public, and private sectors.

 

Diverse Issues in Higher Education ranked AAMU in the top 10 for producers of African-American graduates in Biological Sciences in the nation. Our program has cooperative relationships with several professional degree programs across the state of 51AV including Physician’s Assistant, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical School, and Graduate-level programs.
