How to Retrieve and Submit Documents to IDOC/College Board

  1. Go to www.aamu.edu
  2. Click on Admissions 
  3. Click on Financial Aid
  4. Click on Important Information
  5. Click on IDOC
  6. Click on Visit IDOC Website
    1. Log in with student’s SSN and Date of Birth
    2. Click on IDOC Coversheet and print document.  Click on “Institution Specific Documents,” click on AAMU Verification Worksheet (Dependent or Independent as applicable), and Non-Filer’s Tax Form (Student and/or Parent,) if applicable.
    3. Provide a copy of 2012 Federal Income Tax Transcript for (parent(s) and/or student, as applicable)
    4. Provide Food Stamp and/or Child Support documentation (if applicable).
    5. Fax documents to The Office of Student Financial Aid at (256) 372-5407

REQUESTING AN IRS TAX TRANSCRIPT

There are three ways tax filers can request a tax transcript. Most of these methods do not require the Payment of a fee.

A paper transcript will be mailed to the requestor within 5 to 10 days. THIS CANNOT BE SENT DIRECTLY TO COLLEGE BOARD IDOC. The tax filer must sign the tax transcript and send it to College Board IDOC.

IRS FORM 4506T‐EZ

A paper transcript will be mailed to the Requestor within 5 to 10 days. Transcripts ordered using this method can be mailed directly to College Board IDOC by the IRS only if the tax filer requests this on line five.

IRS DATA AVAILABILITY

In general, tax filers can anticipate that the IRS data will be available within two weeks if the tax return has been filed electronically eight weeks if the tax returns have been mailed. If the tax filer has changed or corrected the federal income tax return, the amended information may not be available through the IRS data retrieval process. You will be required to submit both the original IRS tax transcript as well as the amended IRS tax transcript.

IF AN IRS 1040 WILL NOT AND IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE FILED

The filers must attest that an IRS 1040 has not and will not be filed and that the IRS 1040 is not required to be filed. Copies of all W-‐2 forms from all employers must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants filing a Puerto Rico tax return or a foreign tax return may not use the IRS Tax Retrieval and must send a signed copy of their 2011 tax documents.

FOOD STAMP AND CHILD SUPPORT DOCUMENTATION 

FOOD STAMP RECIPIENTS

On the FAFSA if Question 75 confirms that Food Stamp benefits (also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was received in either 2010 or 2011. Recipients of Food Stamps must provide the Office of Financial Aid with documentation that Food Stamps were received. If documentation is not provided, additional income and asset information may be requested by the Office of Financial Aid.

CHILD SUPPORT PAID

Applicants, who have been chosen for verification and who have indicated that child support was paid by The filer during 2011, the filer must confirm the amounts of child support paid, to whom the payments were made, the names and address of the children receiving the child support.
