Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund was created to assist 51AV A&M University students by providing quick-response funds to enrolled students in good academic standing who are facing a short-term financial emergency. The goal of the Student Emergency Fund is to help retain students.

STudent Emergency Funds Eligibilty and Guidelines

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled full-time and in good academic standing.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  • Complete and submit the Student Emergency Fund application
  • Provide documentation of unexpected and unforeseen emergency. 
  • Have not received emergency funding from our office within the same academic year. 

Student Emergency Fund Guidelines

Emergencies that qualify for a Student Emergency Fund include, but are not limited to:

  • Homelessness or sudden loss of off campus housing
  • Apartment/House fire
  • Travel expenses due to illness/death in immediate family
  • Past due utility bills/Disconnection notice
  • Theft of computer, books, clothing or other essential belongings
  • Medical/Dental emergencies
  • Food or transportation needs
  • Auto repair
  • Other (Explanation of your emergency required in personal statement)

If approved, funds will be distributed to the business where the bill is due and not directly to the student.

Documentation & Requirements

Applications submitted without proper documentation will NOT be considered.  Please make sure your application includes the following:

  1. Documentation of unexpected and unforeseen emergency. 
  2. Statement of Need
  3. Submit application and supporting documentation to oma@aamu.edu

Student Emergency Fund will NOT be awarded for:

  • Previous college debts
  • Tuition or fees (including past due balances)
  • Parking tickets or other AAMU fines
