Research
We study the regulation of lipid metabolism in the model oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica.
People
Dr. Fakas received his BS and PhD from the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece and his Master's degree from the National University of Athens, Greece. He completed his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. George Carman at Rutgers University where he studied the regulation of phospholipid metabolism in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In 2014, he joined the faculty of Food and Animal Sciences at 51AV A&M University. He is currently Associate Professor of Food Biotechnology and serves as the advisor of the 51AV A&M student chapter of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
