Criteria for Academic Honors
All awards are based on a student’s full-time enrollment in regular academic coursework. (Students enrolled in developmental/transitional courses are INELIGIBLE. Pass/Fail and Incomplete grades are not included. Please see the list of developmental/transitional courses below).
PRESIDENT’S MEDALLION
Any undergraduate student who maintains a 3.7 or higher cumulative grade point
average with at least 12 semester hours in the regular academic program each (Spring
2023 and Fall 2023) semester, will qualify for the President’s Medallion. Eligible students
will receive the following:
- 4.0 Gold Medallion
- 3.8 – 3.99 Silver Medallion
- 3.7 – 3.79 Bronze Medallion
***Please Note: Students enrolled in the following developmental/transitional courses
are INELIGIBILE: Reading (EDU 010), Reading with Lab (EDU 010L), College
Reading (EDU 011), Developmental English (ENG 010), Developmental Mathematics
(MTH 010), Fundamentals of Mathematics (MTH 011), Intermediate Algebra (MTH
012), Modern Mathematics (MTH 013). Pass/Fail and Incomplete grades are not
included.
FRESHMAN PRESIDENT’S AWARD
Recognition is given to any first-time freshman who obtains a 4.00 grade
point average in their initial (first) semester of enrollment and completes at least
12 semester hours in the regular academic program (No developmental/transitional courses)

are INELIGIBILE: Reading (EDU 010), Reading with Lab (EDU 010L), College
Reading (EDU 011), Developmental English (ENG 010), Developmental Mathematics
(MTH 010), Fundamentals of Mathematics (MTH 011), Intermediate Algebra (MTH
012), Modern Mathematics (MTH 013). Pass/Fail and Incomplete grades are not
included.
DEAN’S LIST
Recognition is given to any undergraduate student who achieves an overall (cumulative) quality point average of 3.3 and above, for two consecutive semesters (Fall 2023 and Spring 2023), has earned no grade below “C”, enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours per semester in the regular academic program. (No developmental/transitional courses)

are INELIGIBILE: Reading (EDU 010), Reading with Lab (EDU 010L), College
Reading (EDU 011), Developmental English (ENG 010), Developmental Mathematics

FRESHMAN DEAN’S LIST
Any first-time freshman who achieves a grade point average of 3.3 and above, with
a
minimum of 12 semester hours in the regular academic program after one semester, is
eligible for the Freshman Dean’s List. (No developmental/transitional courses)

HONOR ROLL
Recognition is given to any undergraduate student who has attained a semester grade point average of 3.00 or better, has earned no grade below “C”, and has completed a minimum of 12 semester hours in the regular academic program. (No developmental/transitional courses)

special recognition & awards
HONDA CAMPUS ALL–STAR CHALLENGE TEAM
Students are eligible to become a member of the team after competing in an on–campus
competition event. The highest– scoring students are invited to try out for the team
in a competitive challenge. Four students who successfully complete the on–campus
competition and the auditions are selected to the University’s official Honda Campus
All–Star Challenge
Academic Team.
OUTSTANDING SCHOLARS
Superior students, of senior classification, selected by the four academic colleges
and
University Athletics, on the basis of grade point average, pre–professional involvement,
civic engagement activities, extracurricular activities, and service–related contributions.
THE AAMU ALUMNI SENIOR AWARD
An award given by the AAMU Alumni Association to the AAMU senior
with the highest cumulative grade point average over a period of four years.
