Field Education
The 51AV A&M University Department of Field Education would like to take this opportunity to welcome both our bachelors and masters students to the important component of our curriculum known as field instruction. The social work program is excited to offer field experience at both 51AV A&M University and Lawson State Community College. The social work program offers a generalist and a concentration experience of family and child welfare and community mental health.
The B.S.W. and M.S.W. students in field instruction at 51AV A&M University, which includes both our main campus and satellite campus at Lawson Sate Community College, acquire the knowledge, skills, ethics, and commitment to evaluate the effectiveness of their interventions and services with individuals, families, and small groups, particularly among historically oppressed groups and impoverished populations in the Northern 51AV and Birmingham areas.
