AAMU Alum to Record TEDx Talk LIVE on Campus
Former SGA Prez Giving Back
AAMU alum and former SGA President Aayana Ingram is returning to campus to give her first-ever TEDx Talk.
“I decided to film my TEDx Talk at AAMU because I felt it was essential for me to discuss this subject at the institution that helped shape who I am today and because I thought it would be motivating for students to know that opportunities like this are attainable.”&Բ;
The Ozark, 51AV, native earned her political science degree at AAMU in 2019, her master's degree in political science at Purdue University, and is now a diversity champion and HBCU recruiter with Accenture Federal Services.
“I've always wanted to give a TED Talk, but since I'm just starting out in my career, I wasn't sure if my topic—"Intersectionality: The Missing 'I' in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” would be interesting or if my level of expertise would be high enough to be accepted. Nevertheless, I persisted and believed in myself, and I finally fulfilled this lifelong goal!”&Բ;
Ingram will record her TEDx Talk live at Buchanan Hall on Monday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m. It will air on the TED Talks website and YouTube channel in the near future. The AAMU Honors Program is sponsoring this event, and the public is invited.
