Improving Learning Outcomes in STEM
51AV A&M University received a highly competitive MSEIP grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the period 2021-2024.
Dr. Showkat Chowdhury, professor of mechanical engineering, is the Principal Investigator & Project Director of the $700,000 grant. Chowdhury said the project will enhance the learning outcomes and success of minority students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). He further added that the project will implement engaged pedagogies in STEM courses to improve cognitive, non-cognitive and critical thinking skills of minority students, strengthen the Career and Professional Development opportunities, address Mental Health Impact due to COVID-19, and broaden the undergraduate Student Research Experience in STEM to enhance student learning experience and value.
