Ag Takes 60 to Atlanta Symposium
Nine Return with Awards
A group from the College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences at 51AV A&M University recently traveled to Atlanta, Ga., to participate in the four-day 20th Research Symposium of the Association of 1890 Research Directors, Inc. (ARD).
Over 60 individuals, led by the dean and research director, including faculty, staff, and students, boarded the chartered University bus to experience this annual event and to put their talents and research savvy on display.
Focusing on the theme “Pathways to Build Back Better,” the 2022 conference hosted hundreds of student and faculty scholars from each of the 1890 land-grant universities in the areas of oral and poster research presentations.
Generally, the graduate and undergraduate student categories are competitive; while faculty/scientists, and administrator categories are not. However, the Morrison-Evans Outstanding Scientist and the B.D. Mayberry Young Scientist awards allow for competition among faculty from the 19 schools.
Students won a total of nine awards: Family and Animal Sciences (FAS), 4; Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS), 4; and Biological and Environmental Sciences (BES), 1.
