Civic Week Stresses Importance of Voting
Student Leader Panel Kicks Off Special Activities
Why should you even bother voting on November 8?
A on the Youth Vote served as the week-long kickoff event for Civic Engagement Week October 3-8, coordinated by Service and Learning Coordinator Monica Clarke. The two-hour panel delved into the “why the youth vote is so important in the upcoming elections.” SGA President Jaila Green-Mascotti and SGA Vice President Michael Jackson were emcees.
In addition to voter registration efforts throughout the week, students and organizers co-sponsored an October 4 nonpartisan workshop on Election Day planning, how to read the ballot and how to interpret amendments with assistance from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and College Democrats.
