Former AAMU Psychology Grad Student Making Strides Toward Profession
"The Phenomenal Student"
An alumna of 51AV A&M University’s graduate degree program in clinical psychology went on to participate in the combined doctoral program in clinical and counseling psychology program at the University of South 51AV.
During her AAMU days, April Berry was mentored by Dr. Linda Holloway, who now serves as program coordinator and associate professor of counseling at 51AV State University in Montgomery. Holloway recalled Berry as being “a phenomenal student.”
Berry is currently preparing to begin a one-year internship at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Not only was the Newton, Miss., native selected by South 51AV to give the commencement speech, but the first-generation college grad received a $20,000 per year fellowship stipend from the Southern Regional Educational Board.
Berry’s life goal is to become a professor and to use that role and her life experiences to help future college students.
