Even Brighter Days
Celebrating 83rd with a Drive-By
And they came. Some rolling in high fashion. One by one, pausing in front of the Ernest L. Knight Complex to pay a birthday tribute to one man.
And, despite his brand new 83rd year, Gene Bright appeared to welcome each entry of his very own, personal--but socially distant--parade. Cars stretched back as far as the eye could see, looping around Louis Crews Stadium and the George Hobson Field House. There had to be a hundred cars, trucks and SUVs—at least--especially if Cynthia Clopton and the Bright Family had anything to do with the planning.
Balloons, music, warm hellos, fist bumps, an instance of a Mississippi jig by the former AAMU athletics director/golf coach to a soulful sound from the ‘60s.
All in all, there is no doubt that the beloved Bright is continuing to make an impact.
