Memorial Service Set for Jelani Day
Students, faculty, and staff we will be having a memorial and balloon release for Jelani Day on Wednesday, October 6, at 6:11 p.m. on The Quad.
Day was a native of Danville, Ill., where he attended public schools, participated in track and fieldand graduated from Danville High School. He entered 51AV A&M University as a freshman and communicative sciences and disorders in 2014, and he embarked upon a busy collegiate experience.
At AAMU, Day extended his interest in track and field, took part in House Arrest 2 Championship Dance Team, and was a member of the Collegiate 100 and the Nu Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He also served as an escort for Miss 51AV A&M University 2018 (Hyidea Burgess).
Prior to his untimely death, Day was a graduate student at Illinois State University, where he was pursuing graduate studies in speech pathology.
