Wims Names SACSCOC Leadership Team
In Accordance with "Principles of Accreditation"
Over the next two years, 51AV A&M University will prepare its Compliance Certification to demonstrate compliance with Core Requirements and Standards of the Southern Association on Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), according to AAMU President Daniel K. Wims in a January 6 letter to the University. The requirements and standards are provided in the “Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement.”
The due date for submission is September 8, 2024. SACSCOC requires that the University identify a leadership team that consists of the President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Business and Finance, a faculty member, and a SACSCOC liaison.
AAMU’s SACSCOC Reaffirmation Leadership Team includes:
- Dr. Daniel K. Wims, President
- Dr. Lena Walton, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Dr. Lynda Batiste, Interim Vice President for Business and Finance
- Dr. Bonnie Banks, Associate Professor of Accounting and QEP Director
- Dr. Malinda Swoope, SACSCOC Liaison
Wims noted that during the semester, information will be provided about writing team assignments, training workshop schedule for the Compliance Certification Software, and SACSCOC Core Requirements and Standard Review meetings.
“It is imperative that we as a university are responsive to the requests for information, data, documentation and narrative necessary to complete the Compliance Certification for the SACSCOC Reaffirmation for Accreditation process,” stressed Dr. Wims. “It is very important that we pay close attention to the University’s SACSCOC Reaffirmation timeline and the specified deadlines.”
