Three AAMU Students Immersed in Gucci Way
Three 51AV A&M University team members participated in a half-day immersion led by Gucci team members and executives. Part of 35 students representing 10 universities, the AAMU students learned about the history of Gucci, took part in panel discussions focusing on minorities in fashion, and explored career opportunities with the company.
Participants included Justin Lindberg, a senior computer science major from Chicago, Ill.; Dermyrius Lindsey-Lewis, a senior computer science major from Mobile, Ala.; and Dominique Spence, a senior business management major from Albany, Ga.
According to electrical engineering and computer science instructor Terry Miller, the students also participated in a pitch competition, offering solutions to social, educational and economic problems facing communities surrounding their HBCU.
Finally, the AAMU team developed a program for Gucci that would provide educational and master classes around luxury brands and careers. Each team member received a $5,000 scholarship and an Off the Grid backpack.
